BULK CARRIER

PURIFIER ROOM MODS

DNV-GL

FEBRUARY 2014

CHENGXI SHIPYARD (XINRONG) CO., LTD. CHINA

ARGO NAVIS has just finished the study for the re-arrangement of a purifiers’ room of a bulk carrier. The Owner of the vessel was not happy with the “as built” arrangement which was allowing very limited space for maintenance, repairs and cleaning of the purifiers piping system.

We have therefore scanned the room and prepared a completely new foundation platform and piping arrangement.

3D laser scanning and 3D design software has been used in order to accomplish this task.

The benefits of the new arrangement were as follows:

a. The pipes will be with adequate distance to each other so as to allow insulation to be applied to each pipe separately.

b. All items will be accessible for operation and maintenance from the new platform / supporting structure with or without opening the hinged top panels as arranged.

c. Cleaning of the under piping area will be easy since crew can pass through.
