Last July and August, the installation of ECOCHLOR BWTS was successfully completed on board three (3) tankers under the technical management of SCF Management Services Ltd., Novorossiysk. ARGO NAVIS Marine Consulting & Engineering Ltd. was responsible for the performance of engineering study and design of retrofit installation, production of Class approved and detailed drawings, project monitoring and attendance during installation works on site.
Installation on board NS STREAM, an MR ice class tanker, took place at Victor Lenac shipyard, Croatia. The biggest challenge was the pre-fabrication process, since installation of new equipment took place inside three newly fabricated deck houses. The pre-fabrication process was progressed significantly prior ship’s arrival at shipyard.
Installation on board NS CONSUL and NS CENTURY, two sister Aframax tankers, took place in parallel in Tuzla’s TK Shipyard, Turkey. One of the challenges of those projects was the transfer of big filters into the pump room.
Both installations were approved by DNV-GL, who issued certificates of compliance with the BWM convention, on behalf of ships’ flag administration.
During engineering study and installation process, ARGO NAVIS acted as the project integrator, coordinating actions of the Classifications society, with technical superintendents, shipyards’ project departments and all vendors involved.
Important lessons have been learnt and design improvements are already implemented in the studies which follow the above installations.
During the forthcoming six months, 10 installations of different BWTS are scheduled to be take place on board various types of ships and for different clients, for which ARGO NAVIS is responsible for the retrofit installation design, the project coordination and supervision.
We would like to express our thanks to our clients for their support so far, promising that we will continue to exercise our best efforts to keep them satisfied.
